Summary

Statale Plus has no servers of its own, requires no account with the developer and contains no ads, analytics or tracking. The app talks to the University of Milan's services on your behalf and processes data on your phone. The developer does not receive or store your data.

Who is responsible

Mattia Meligeni, the app's developer: dev@mattiameligeni.com. Statale Plus is independent and not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the University of Milan, which processes the data held on its own systems under its own privacy policy.

University credentials

Your university email and password are stored only on your phone, encrypted in the system's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, Keystore on Android), after a successful sign-in. They are sent only to the university's sign-in servers, never to the developer or anyone else. Signing out deletes credentials, cookies and the local copy of your university data.

University data

Profile, timetable, exams, registrations, career, fees, student support and courses are read from the university's services and shown in the app. A convenience copy stays on the phone to show them instantly and is deleted when you sign out. Self-certifications generated in the app are PDFs stored on the phone, excluded from backups and deleted when you sign out.

Signing in with SPID

Instead of your university credentials you can sign in with SPID. SPID credentials are entered only on your identity provider's pages, opened in the app in a web page used only for signing in: the app never sees or stores them. The provider shares with the University the data you approve on its consent page; the University recognises you and opens the session. The app keeps only that university session, encrypted on the phone, until it expires or you sign out.

Recordings, transcripts and summaries

Lectures are recorded only when you start a recording. Audio, transcripts, summaries and glossaries stay on the phone: on-device models do the work and no audio or text is sent to external AI services. On iPhone, recordings are included in the device backup (iCloud or computer) if enabled; on Android there is no automatic backup, and you can export them to an archive from the app.

Permissions

Microphone: recording lectures, only when you start a recording. Camera: scanning the attendance QR code; images are not saved. Location: only for “Near me” in the canteen map, to sort by distance; never stored or sent. Notifications: course notices and the progress of recordings and processing.

Other services

The canteen map reads the university's public Google My Maps page without cookies; on Android the base map comes from OpenStreetMap, which receives requests for the areas shown. If you sign in with SPID, your identity provider's pages are opened only for signing in. Hugging Face is contacted only if you choose to download the more accurate models. Like any connection, these services see your phone's IP address; they never receive credentials, university data, audio or text. System features used by the app (on-device speech recognition and models from Apple or Google, QR scanning) run on the phone; on Android, usage statistics for these components are not sent to Google.

Your rights

Since the developer stores no personal data, you can delete everything the app saved at any time by signing out (optionally deleting recordings too) or uninstalling it. For data held by the university, your GDPR rights apply towards the University. Questions: dev@mattiameligeni.com.

Audience and changes

The app is meant for University of Milan students and is not directed at children under 14. Any changes will be published on this page with the update date.
